Prevention is not optional. It is the foundation of health, beauty, and
function of the mouth. Every day, millions of people suffer dental and gum
damage that could be avoided with awareness, care, and attention. This is a
global issue: we cannot leave the health of our patients to chance.
Dentists must be meticulous, up-to-date, and rigorous. Every patient
deserves a personalized prevention protocol: bitewing X-rays to detect
early interproximal cavities, regular checkups, safe materials, dietary
guidance, and continuous education. It’s not enough to treat damage after
it happens. We must teach, inspire, and share our passion for prevention.
Science evolves daily: we must study, stay current, and apply what research
demonstrates. Only then can we protect the structure of our patients’ teeth
and prevent systemic diseases linked to oral health. Prevention is not just
a medical act; it’s an act of love, responsibility, and awareness.
My Daily Prevention Routine
As a mother of two children, 25 and 23 years old, I have always cared for
their mouths with precision and diligence, since birth. Even today, with
all my experience, I continue learning. Here’s what I do every day to
protect dental health and beauty:
- Oil pulling with coconut oil for about 10 minutes upon waking. Not every
day, but as often as possible. - Targeted toothpaste routine: I alternate between ozone toothpaste,
hydroxyapatite toothpaste, and other active formulations to get the full
benefits throughout the week. - Dental floss at night, very gently, to protect gums.
- Bite guard for bruxism, carefully cleaned every morning. Bruxism is
still a scientific challenge; there is no definitive treatment yet, but
protecting enamel is essential. - Conscious diet: I avoid sugars, and if I consume them, I rinse
thoroughly with water. I also observe the color of my teeth daily, because
diet influences both health and beauty. For example, frequent matcha tea
consumption can slightly alter tooth color. - pH and demineralization monitoring: drinking water regularly helps
maintain a balanced oral environment, reducing acidity that can damage
enamel.
Every tooth is sacred. Enamel is incredibly hard and resilient, yet
vulnerable to acid attacks from microorganisms. Prevention is a daily
practice of small, consistent actions for myself and my children.
Prevention starts with awareness, education, and passion for oral health.
It’s never too early, and never too late. Our patients’ lives, their
health, and the beauty of their smiles deserve our full commitment.
All of this and much more I share in my book, to spread a global culture of
pure prevention and inspire conscious oral care practices.
